Walt Disney and Scott Rudin Prods. are moving forward on the family comedy "Hours of Fun," hiring actor-turned-scribe John Francis Daley and his writing partner Jonathan Goldstein to polish the screenplay.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Hours of Fun" focuses on a small town in which the back-of-the-comic-books novelty gags from the '70s -- X-ray glasses, Sea Monkeys, etc. -- begin to fulfill their outlandish promotional claims. For some reason, this causes the town to descend into chaos and only two childhood friends can help.

Greg Pace wrote the first draft of the script.

Daley and Goldstein previously sold the comedy "The $40,000 Man" to New Line. Terry Zwigoff is set to direct that project.

As an actor, Daley is best known as one of the stars of "Freaks and Geeks" and "Kitchen Confidential" and also as a new cast addition to the latest season of the FOX drama "Bones."
