Buff Bond Tops Condom Maker's Sexiest
Women don't have protection in mind when it comes to Craig
The "Casino Royale" star tops the list of the world's sexiest men in a poll conducted by condom maker Durex Play, according to British reports.
Although being cast as the iconic superspy initially caused controversy, Craig had women shaken and stirred when he emerged from the water in all his glory. The impact was reminiscent of Ursula Andress' white bikini-ed entrance in "Dr. No" in 1962.
"Daniel Craig is an obvious choice for the sexiest man on the planet and he has all the attributes that make up a real icon," says Durex spokesperson Rosie Lodge. "The scene in 'Casino Royale' where he is frolicking in the sea has caught the attention of women across the world."
The British poll, which surveyed 4,000 women, naturally skewed toward British blokes, who outnumbered their Yankee cousins eight to two among the Top 10. The other nine include: 2) "Sin City" actor Clive Owen; 3) "The Holiday" star Jude Law; 4) Steve Jones, a presenter on T4, the UK's Channel 4 youth timeslot; 5) People's sexiest George Clooney; 6) cinema pirate Johnny Depp; 7) soccer star David Beckham; 8) popstar Robbie Williams; 9) Depp's "Pirates" co-star Orlando Bloom; and 10) former 007 Pierce Brosnan.
Highlights of the rest of the Top 100 list include Brad Pitt, Colin Farrell, "Lost's" Matthew Fox; "American Idol" curmudgeon Simon Cowell, "Brokeback Mountain" star Heath Ledger, the bonny Prince William, Justin Timberlake (after all, he did bring "SexyBack"), "Nip/Tuck's" Julian McMahon, Denzel Washington, Robert Redford and chef Gordon Ramsay.
"Casino Royale," the 21st official James Bond film, has raked in more than $376 million worldwide.
