After nearly two months in release, "The Dark Knight" continues to break records.

Over the Labor Day weekend, "The Dark Knight" passed the $500 million mark, becoming only the second film to ever pass that total without the help of inflation. The first film to go over $500 million, "Titanic," took 91 days to hit the figure, while the Batman sequel did it in only 45.

After a $11 million long weekend, "The Dark Knight" has made $504.7 million domestic, though its chances of passing "Titanic" without a major Oscar season rerelease appear to be nil.

"The Dark Knight" also remains strong overseas, taking in $19 million for the weekend. The Christopher Nolan directed film is playing on 6,580 screens in 62 markets and has now taken in $417 million foreign, according to the industry trades.

Second place overseas was "Mamma Mia!," which made $12.1 million playing on 2,933 screens in 33 markets for a foreign total of $258.3. "Kung Fu Panda" was third with $9.0 foreign, bringing its overseas total to $384.7. Fourth was "Hancock," which has now made $353 million foreign after a $8.9 million weekend.
