Demetri Martin will play 'Moneyball'
"Daily Show" alum will co-star as baseball statistics whiz
Former "Daily Show" correspondent Demetri Martin is moving to the big leagues.Martin, who currently hosts "Important Things with Demetri Martin" for Comedy Central, has signed on for Columbia's "Moneyball," according to Variety.
The movie, based on Michael Lewis' 2004 book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game," follows the 2002 Oakland A's as they try to field a competitive team on a miniscule budget. Martin will play baseball statistician Paul De Podesta, whose Earned Run Value data helped peg talented but inexpensive players.
Brad Pitt has already signed on as A's general manager Billy Beane.
