Robert DeNiro Joins Mel Gibson in 'Darkness'
Martin Campbell is directing 'Edge of Darkness'
Production on "Edge of Darkness" will begin later this month in Massachusetts, with Martin Campbell directing the adaptation of the acclaimed Martin Campbell helmed miniseries, which aired on the BBC in 1985.
Gibson will play a Boston homicide detective who witnesses the death of his activist daughter. As he investigates the circumstances of her murder, he starts to unravel a conspiracy. Like most good conspiracies, this one goes all the way to the top.
This will be Gibson's first starring role since 2002's "Signs" and "We Were Soldiers."
According to Variety, De Niro will play "an operative sent to clean up the evidence." Sounds mysterious.
Most recently seen in "Stardust," De Niro has "What Just Happened?" and " Righteous Kill" set for release later this year.
