Are Leonardo DiCaprio and his Appian Way shingle looking to bring "The Twilight Zone" back to the big screen?

That's what The Hollywood Reporter says, indicating that the Warner Bros.-based banner has been seeking pitches based on episodes of the Rod Serling classic. The trade reports, though, that DiCaprio's company isn't planning an anthology movie.

In 1983, Warner Bros. released a four-chapter "Twilight Zone" movie with Joe Dante, John Landis, George Miller and Steven Spielberg directing installments. Three of the four stories were based on episodes from the original series and, to this day, the film is mostly remembered for the tragic circumstances on Landis' short.

In its original form, "The Twilight Zone" ran from 1959-64, though the series has been remade and restarted on several occasions, most recently by UPN six years ago. Warner Bros. owns the rights to the episodes written by host and series mastermind Rod Serling.

The trade says that DiCaprio has long referenced "The Twilight Zone" as his favorite TV series.

Of course, DiCaprio is notorious for the number of potential projects on his plate at any given time. The actor will be seen this fall in "Body of Lies" and "Revolutionary Road," followed by 2009's "Shutter Island." DiCaprio and Appian way have been linked to "Akira," "Atari," "I, Claudius," "Farragut North" and, most recently, the actor was linked to a role in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards."
