Long-delayed 'Project Greenlight' film will open this fall

Dimension Films and the Weinstein Co. have set a Sept. 22 release date for "Feast."

It's been more than a year since Bravo aired the last episode of the third season of "Project Greenlight." That season introduced viewers to eccentric, but talented director John Gulager and show the early production on his low-budget horror film "Feast," which starred Balthazar Getty, Navi Rawat, Krista Allen and Judah Friedlander.

While the other "Project Greenlight" films -- box office non-factors "Stolen Summer" and "The Battle of Shaker Heights" -- opened soon after their season's finales, "Feast" was left in limbo by the Weinstein's separation from Miramax and by the next for extra post-production time on the genre venture.

What started off as a possible fall release became a planned winter launch. Last September, Matt Damon, one of the show's producers, told reporters that Dimension would release the film around Christmas, but that never happened, nor did an announced Jan. 2006 release.

The official Weinstein Co. site offers no details on how the horror film will be released, only offering the tag line "This fall, the silver screen will turn red."

Oh yes, there will be blood.
