Marc Forster will helm Max Brooks adaptation

Fresh off the expected success of "Quantum of Solace," Marc Forster has signed on to direct Paramount's adaptation of "World War Z."

Set to be produced by Brad Pitt's Plan B shingle, "World War Z" is based on the book by Max Brooks, a first-person oral history of the aftermath of a massive zombie crisis, told through the eyes of survivors around the world.

The book, which lacks any sort of central characters or dramatic arc, has been adapted by J. Michael Straczynski ("Changeling").

According to Variety, Forster was attracted to the script, comparing it to '70s political thrillers like "All the President's Men" (only with zombies).

"Quantum of Solace," already an international smash, represents a change of pace for Forster, whose previous directing credits include "Monster's Ball," "Finding Neverland" and "The Kite Runner."
