The upcoming comic series "Billy Smoke" is being developed as a big screen starring vehicle for "Lost" star Matthew Fox.

According to the industry trade papers, Warner Bros. has acquired the comic, which comes from Oni Press and will be published in 2009.

Written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, "Billy Smoke" focuses on a hitman (Fox) who decides, after a near-death experience, that the world would be a better place if he took out all of the hit men.

Basic Iwanyk's Thunder Road and Oni's Closed on Mondays shingle will produce.

While balancing a starring role on ABC's "Lost," Fox has had no trouble carving out a solid film career. He most recently appeared in the surprise spring hit "Vantage Point" and in the early summer box office dud "Speed Racer."
