Grammer, Neuwirth join remake cast

Former "Frasier" co-stars Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth -- who played divorced couple Frasier and Lilith Crane on that series and "Cheers" -- have joined the cast of the "Fame" remake film.

Grammer and Neuwirth will play an orchestra conductor and dance teacher, respectively, in the update of the 1980 movies about students at the New York City High School of Performing Arts. According to the Hollywood Reporter, they'll be joined by "Will and Grace" star Megan Mullally; "Threshold's" Charles S. Dutton; and original "Fame" star Debbie Allen.

Interestingly enough, the HR says Allen won't reprise her role as dance teacher Lydia Grant, and will instead play the school's principal.

Grammer was most recently seen in the short-lived FOX sitcom "Back to You."
