James Gandolfini Needs 'Sexual Healing'
Jesse L. Martin will play the lead in the Marvin Gaye biopic
James Gandolfini is in place to produce and co-star in the Marvin Gaye biopic "Sexual Healing." No. He won't play Gaye.According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gandolfini would play Gaye's longtime manager Freddy Cousaert in the film, a look at the singer's final years.
Lauren Goodman is directing the film based on a script she based on Steven Turner's book "Trouble Man."
"Law & Order" and "Rent" star Jesse L. Martin has been attached to the project for several years playing the legendary singer.
Gandolfini's Attaboy shingle will produce "Sexual Healing," which is set to begin production on April 15 with an estimated budget of $15 million.
The "Sopranos" star recently won his third SAG award for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series for his work on the mob series. During the acclaimed run of "The Sopranos," Gandolfini also won three Emmys and a Golden Globe for his work.
Gandolfini's other recent credits include "Surviving Christmas," "Lonely Hearts" and "All the King's Men."
