Grant and Parker would rekindle love in witness protection

Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker are reportedly in negotiations to star in a romantic comedy for Columbia Pictures.

According to Variety, the untitled project comes from writer-director Marc Lawrence, who previously worked with Grant on "Music and Lyrics" and "Two Weeks Notice."

The trade paper says Lawrence's script focuses on an estranged New York couple who have to relocate to Wyoming after they witness a murder and enter the witness protection program. The project was originally titled "Buffalo Faith," but that may no longer be the case.

Columbia, which picked up the project in turnaround from Castle Rock Entertainment, is hoping for a March production start date.

Parker has circled a number of projects since the feature version of "Sex and the City" became a summertime smash. Her other big screen credits include "Smart People" and "Failure to Launch."

Grant has been absent from the big screen since "Music and Lyrics" and "American Dreamz."
