'Crying Game' director will helm Neil Gaiman adaptation

Neil, meet Neil.

Neil Jordan will direct an adaptation of writer Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book," according to Variety. "The Graveyard Book," winner of the 2009 Newbery Medal, is an update of "The Jungle Book" in which young orphan Nobody Owens is raised by the ghosts of an unkempt graveyard. Owens must learn to deal with his humanity (and love for a local girl) while avoiding a group of assassins all named Jack.

Unlike Gaiman's CGI "Coraline," which appears in theaters Feb. 6, "The Graveyard Book" will be a live-action film.

Though he's best known for "The Crying Game" and other dramatic films, "The Graveyard Book" isn't Jordan's only ghost story in the works: He's slated to write and direct an adaptation of Joe Hill's horror novel "Heart-Shaped Box."
