'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' will premiere early
New date will give it jump on summer movie season
With a wave of his wand, Harry Potter travels in time." Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth movie in the series, will move up two days to a July 15 premiere date, sources say. The move gives "Half-Blood Prince" a jump on such paltry July 17 weekend competition as "All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" and "500 Days of Summer."
The move continues an emerging trend of blockbuster movies opening early. Yesterday, "Star Trek" was moved up from the traditional midnight debut to a 7 p.m. start time.
"Half-Blood Prince" follows the Potter and Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore as they look for a group of artifacts that hold the key to stopping evil Lord Voldemort.
