"Heroes" star auditions for '80s movie remake

Hayden Panettiere, whose "Heroes" just wrapped up its third season, is ready to cut loose.

Panettiere has auditioned for -- and greatly impressed the filmmakers of -- the upcoming "Footloose" remake, according to E! Online's Marc Malkin.

With the music test out of the way, the actress' next step would be a dance audition.

"Footloose" hit a snag early in production when star Zac Efron left the project. "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford is rumored to be close to securing Efron's former spot as the lead.
