Although former rival Lindsay Lohan is getting all the press these days, Hilary Duff is far from "So Yesterday."

The singer-actress packed them in at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C., the home of Fort Bragg, on Tuesday night (Aug. 1) for a free concert for military families, report news sources.

The "Cinderella Story" star performed "Hilary Duff Rocks for the Troops" for more than 7,000 servicemen and their family members and even posed for photos with them before the show.

It's not the first time that Duff has given back to the community. She also made a substantial donation in 2005 to the Hurrican Katrina disaster relief efforts. Actions like these have set her apart from Lohan, a starlet with a similar Disney/singing/acting pedigree that has been in the news trying to live down her party girl reputation.

Duff, 18, has starred in "The Lizzie McGuire Movie," two "Cheaper by the Dozen" films, "A Cinderella Story," "Raise Your Voice" and "The Perfect Man." She next co-stars with her sister Haylie Duff in the riches-to-rags comedy "Material Girls," opening Friday, Aug. 18. The Sisters Duff also collaborated by lending their voice talents to the upcoming animated "Foodfight!," in which they play items in a grocery store.
