Gerard Butler, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jay Baruchel will voice characters

DreamWorks Animation has landed an eclectic cast of vocal stars for its 3-D film "How to Train Your Dragon."

According to the industry trade papers, Gerard Butler and America Ferrera will voice lead roles along with Judd Apatow favorites Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jay Baruchel.

The project is based on the first love in Cressida Cowell's kids series and is being directed by Peter Hastings for a March 26, 2010 release. Can you wait that long? Well, you have no choice.

The plot focuses on Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third (Baruchel), the timid son of a fierce Viking chief (Butler). When Hiccup has to capture and train a dragon to be initiated into his tribe, he joins forces with Astrid (Ferrera).

The trades say that Hill will voice the bully Snotlout, with Mintz-Plasse as the strong-but-dumb Fishlegs.

Baruchel and Hill both co-starred in this summer's "Knocked Up," while Hill and Mintz-Plasse starred in "Superbad."

Ferrera is the star of ABC's "Ugly Betty," plus the upcoming sequel to "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

Butler, star of "300," has "Nim's Island," "RocknRolla" and "Game" on tap.
