Kate Hudson has 'Big Eyes'
'Fool's Gold' star will play Margaret Keane
The drama was written by biopic masters Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander, whose screenwriting credits include "Ed Wood," "The People vs. Larry Flynt" and "Man on the Moon."
Variety says that Karaszewski and Alexander will make their feature directing debut on "Big Eyes," but that's just because the trade paper has apparently never heard of a little 2000 film called "Screwed."
The biopic will concentrate on Keane, whose paintings, many featuring big-eyed children, found success in the 1950s and 1960s. Keane originally sold her art under the name of her husband Walter, which led to a notorious court case in which Margaret Keane was forced to prove authorship of her paintings.
The project is set to shoot in June, barring a pending SAG strike.
Last seen in "You, Me and Dupree" and "The Skeleton Key," Hudson has "Fool's Gold" set for release this week and "My Best Friend's Girl" and "Bride Wars" on tap.
