Joins a cast that already includes Rachel Weisz, Ryan Gosling, Susan Sarandon and Stanley Tucci

Add Emmy winner Michael Imperioli to the bulging cast of Peter Jackson's "The Lovely Bones."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Imperioli will play a detective investigating the murder of a young girl (Saoirse Ronan).

The detective doesn't know that the gal is looking down on the action from heaven, watching her parents (Rachel Weisz and Ryan Gosling), her grandma (Susan Sarandon) and her killer (Stanley Tucci).

Based on the bestselling novel by Alice Sebold, "The Lovely Bones" will begin production in October between Pennsylvania and New Zealand.

Imperioli earned five Emmy nominations and a 2004 win for his work as Christopher Moltisanti on HBO's "The Sopranos." His other credits include a six-episode arc on "Law & Order," as well as the ABC Mitch Albom adaptations "The Five People You Meet in Heaven" and the upcoming "For One More Day."
