Chan Still Pained by Stunt Injury
Actor was kicked in the chest by stuntman wearing the wrong shoes
Getting kicked in the chest isn't easy on anybody, but the big surprise is that Jackie Chan is still reeling from his recent stunt mishap. The 51-year-old actor admits that he's having difficulty performing after a stuntman wearing the wrong shoes kicked him in the chest last week on the set of his latest film, "Rob-B-Hood," report news sources. No bones were broken, although his cartilage was damaged.
"It's still swollen. It really hurts," says the martial arts star at the opening festivities of a Hong Kong rugby tournament on Friday, March 31. "Breathing hurts. ... It hurts to draw my fist. It's been hard filming fight scenes these past two days."
The Hong Kong performer has always taken pride in doing his action scenes as realistically as possible, which means all hits actually connect on his body. Both he and his actors are required to wear special padding in their feet and certain places on their body to prevent serious injury.
Chan has sustained far worse injuries by doing his own stunts in the past. He's broken his nose three times, his ankle once, most of the fingers in his hand, both cheekbones and has a permanent hole in his head from a stunt accident.
Chan's film credits include "Supercop," "Rumble in the Bronx," "Shanghai Noon," "Shanghai Knights," the "Rush Hour" films and the remake of "Around the World in 80 Days." Next, he'll lend his voice to the character Master Monkey in the animated "Kung Fu Panda," and will hopefully gear up to reprising his role in the second "Rush Hour" sequel with Chris Tucker.
