'The L Word' star will reunite with Denzel Washington

She's a maniac, but maybe that's the best way to survive a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

"Flashdance" star Jennifer Beals has signed on to "The Book of Eli," according to Variety. The movie follows Denzel Washington as the title character, who is convinced one book can restore humanity. Beals will play a blind woman who accompanys Eli on his quest. The movie has a 2010 release date.

Beals, 45, has a central role on the Showtime series "The L Word." Washington, 54, can be seen in June 2009 during the remake of "The Taking of Pelham 123." Beals and Washington starred together in the 1995 thriller "Devil in a Blue Dress."
