J.Lo Sues First Ex-Husband
Her ex is asking for $ 5 million to not publish a tell-all book
The actress, singer, designer and PETA-target filed a lawsuit Monday, April 10 against Ojani Noa, claiming that he's demanding $5 million in hush money for not spilling her secrets. She's suing him for violating a confidentiality agreement they had by circulating a manuscript that contained private information about their lives together, report news sources.
The court documents state that Noa sent a letter January 13, 2005 revealing his intentions to shop around what will no doubt be an eloquently written book, judging by the following writing sample: "OK, let's face it we can negociate [sic] something, but I'm not stopping my life because of her, I already did many times, and is [sic] not gonna happen again, she may want me to stay quite [sic], and not talk about her it [sic] all in the Book, I'll be more happy to do do, if we can come to an agreement..."
A follow-up letter sent a year later requested $5 million to stop marketing the book.
One of the things Lopez will not doubt object to are claims Noa allegedly made about her having an affair with her current husband Marc Anthony while he was still married to former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in 1999. In 2004, he began being seen with Lopez frequently, although he was still wed to Torres. He divorced her in June that year and married Lopez about four days later.
Lopez, 36, first walked down the aisle with Noa, a waiter, in 1997 and divorced him a year later. In between Noa and Anthony, she married dancer Cris Judd in 2001 and divorced him a year and a half later. As Bennifer, she very publicly dated and was engaged to actor Ben Affleck, but that ended in early 2004.
J.Lo last appeared on the big screen opposite Jane Fonda in "Monster-in-Law" and then Robert Redford in "An Unfinished Life," recently out on DVD. She's finished production on the upcoming crime drama "Bordertown" and biopic "El Cantante," starring husband Anthony as salsa pioneer Hector Lavoe. Lopez is also, bewilderingly, in negotiations to play Sue Ellen Ewing in the big screen adaptation of "Dallas," helmed by "Bend It Like Beckham" director Gurinder Chadha.
