Movie won't be a remake of the 1974 disaster flick 'Earthquake'

After producing "Cloverfield," J.J. Abrams is looking for another way to shake things up.

The producer is teaming up with original "Omen" screenwriter David Seltzer on a Universal disaster flick that will center on an earthquake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it won't be a remake of the studio's 1974 movie "Earthquake," which inspired one portion of the studio tour, but will focus on relationships -- as is Abrams' wont -- with the disaster as a backdrop.

Abrams will produce along with the other Bad Robot team, Bryan Burk and Sherryl Clark.

Abrams is currently finishing post-production on his "Star Trek" reboot, which will hit theaters in 2009. Before that though, fans can enjoy his latest brainchild, the series "Fringe," which will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 9 on FOX.
