'Justice League' Deferred

Now what will George Miller, Adam Brody and Common do with their spring?

Seemingly on the Warner Bros. fast-track just months ago, George Miller's adaptation of the DC Comics' franchise "Justice League" has been scrapped.

According to the industry trade papers, "Justice League" is "on indefinite hold." The delay has been credited, as one might expect under our current strike circumstances, to concerns about the script, originally written by Kieran Mulroney and Michele Mulroney, but subsequently rewritten by Miller.

Beyond the requisite script polishing, the superhero all-star vehicle is also reportedly being held up by questions involving the film's ability to shoot in Miller's native Australia with tax breaks.

Miller's involvement kick-started what had previously been a slow-moving project. The "Babe 2" director came on board in September and was deep into casting less than a month later. While extensive preliminary casting had been done (with the results leaked online over a month ago), the film's potential stars were told earlier this week that their options wouldn't be exercised.

Rumored to be attached to "Justice League" were Adam Brody as The Flash, Armie Hammer as Batman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and Common as Green Lantern.

Warner Bros. had hoped to have "Justice League" ready for release in the summer of 2009. As of now, Variety says that production won't be able to begin until late summer or fall at the very earliest.
