After working with stars like George Clooney and Brad Pitt on their latest film, the Coen Brothers have tapped a pair of less recognizable actors to play the leads in "A Serious Man."

According to Variety, the Oscar-winning filmmakers have selected Tony nominated theater vet Michael Stuhlbarg and veteran character actor Richard Kind for their upcoming period black comedy, set up at Focus.

The trade says the film is set in 1967 and focuses on a Midwestern professor (Stuhlbarg) whose life goes askew when his wife decides to leaves him and his brother (Kind) won't move out.

The Coens, whose "Burn After Reading" opens next month, will begin production on "A Serious Man" next month in Minneapolis.

Kind is best known for his work on TV shows including "Spin City" and "Mad About You," plus features like "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" and "The Visitor." His voice is familiar from everything from "Bug's Life" to "Cars" to "Kim Possible."

Stuhlbarg earned a Tony nomination for "The Pillowman" and has also done guest appearances on "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Law & Order."
