Jaime King has signed on to star in Lionsgate's horror remake "My Bloody Valentine 3-D."

The project is based somewhat on George Mihalka's 1981 horror film, one of of a slew of holiday-themed seminal slasher films.

Not surprisingly, "My Bloody Valentine" and its 3-D spawn focus on a killer who really, really, really would prefer that residents of a small town not celebrate Valentine's Day. Not even with cards and conversation hearts? Not even with cards and conversation hearts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, King will play the film's female lead, a married woman who's reunited with her high school sweetheart and discovers that they still share feelings.

Zane Smith wrote the remake, which will be directed by Patrick Lussier ("Dracula 2000"). It will be a quick turn-around for all involved, with production beginning on May 12 and a Jan. 23, 2009 release date already slated.

King will appear in the upcoming "Fanboys" and "Frank Miller's Will Eisner's The Spirit." She was most recently seen on the small screen in "The Class" and "Kitchen Confidential."
