Actress joins 'Nowhere Boy' to play musician's aunt

John Lennon's family tree is filling out.

Kristin Scott Thomas has signed on to play Lennon's aunt Mimi Smith in "Nowhere Boy," according to Variety. The movie follows Lennon's life as he grows up; Mimi and her husband George acted as parents to John, who lived with them after trouble with his mother Julia. Mimi famously told John, "Music's all right John, but you'll never make a living out of it."

Anne-Marie Duff has been cast as Julia.

Thomas, 48, made big-screen waves with the 1994 film "Four Weddings and a Funeral." She was most recently seen in 2008's "I've Loved You So Long."
