DreamWorks Animation is planning a sequel to its summer smash "Kung Fu Panda."

The studio announced Wednesday (Oct. 1) that the original vocal cast members, including Jack Black and Angelina Jolie, will return for the sequel, which will be produced in stereoscopic 3-D technology.

DreamWorks has optimistically set a June 3, 2011 release date, so mark your calendars now.

"We are thrilled to reunite the creative team that made 'Kung Fu Panda' such a global success," says DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg in a statement. "Because of their imaginative work, Po's path to heroism proved popular with moviegoers of all ages around the world."

Jennifer Yuh Nelson, head of story on "Kung Fu Panda," will direct the sequel. Details on Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger's script are fuzzy, but it will have something to do with Black's Po, a loveable panda with an appreciation for martial arts and dumplings.

To date, "Kung Fu Panda" has made more than $625 million worldwide, making it one of the summer's biggest hits. The movie will be released on DVD on Nov. 9 with a companion film, "Secrets of the Furious Five."

"The story of 'Kung Fu Panda' provided a great introduction to these characters and afforded wonderful opportunities to further expand on the world we created in ancient China. Quite simply, there's more story to tell," says Bill Damaschke, co-president of production and president of Live Theatrical.

Other vocal stars of the original "Kung Fu Panda" include Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu and James Hong.
