While his 'Ice Age' films are for the whole family, John Leguizamo's next film is a bit more adult

John Leguizamo, whose voice can be heard in the kid-friendly cartoon "Ice Age: The Meltdown," has a new project that's absolutely not suitable for children.

The 41-year-old actor/comedian has signed on for a dark comedy called "Babysitters," written and directed by David Ross.

"It's a crazy, crazy dark project that Ben Stiller passed on for obvious reasons," Leguizamo says at a recent junket for the "Ice Age" sequel. "It's [about] this guy, he's married and has two kids and he goes through a midlife crisis and starts having an affair with the babysitter, and his whole life starts spiraling downward.

"And then his friends start having affairs with babysitters too, and their lives start spiraling," he continues. "And the kids and the girls at the school -- everybody's lives start falling apart."

Apparently, this film isn't aimed toward the same audience as "Ice Age."

"Yeah it's for the whole family; bring the kids," he jokes, then adds, "No it's dark. It's a dark, dark piece. It's comedic in some bizarre kind of tragicomedy kind of level. But no, there's a weird sense of humor to it ... It's a beautiful, beautiful piece."

The "brilliant, phenomenal" Kate Waterson, daughter of "Law & Order" actor Sam Waterson, will portray the nanny hired by Leguizamo's character.

Leguizamo's recent credits include "Assault on Precinct 13," "The Honeymooners" and "Land of the Dead." He next stars in "Ice Age: The Meltdown," in theaters Friday, March 31, and in the upcoming comedies "The Alibi" and "The Groomsmen."

Currently, he's spouting medical jargon as Dr. Victor Clemente on NBC's drama "ER." His last episode will air May 11.
