Lohan Subpoenaed in Mom's Fraud Case
May miss another day of shooting on film
Lindsay Lohan won't have to resort to "bogus excuses" to miss work thanks to a subpoena. The "Just My Luck" actress has been summoned to give a deposition at the end of the month in a fraud case against her mother Dina Lohan. Record producers Antonio Almeida and Mitchell Chait claim that the elder Lohan signed her daughter to a deal with them, but after they helped the starlet cut half of the tracks on her "Confessions of a Drama Queen" album, she left them to record the album with music mogul Tommy Mottola.
According to court documents found on TMZ.com, the actress has been instructed to bring all documentation of communication she had with the producers, her mother, Mottola, her father Michael Lohan, producer Emilio Estefan and Mad Management LLC that relates to her music career at the time.
The oral deposition will take place on Aug. 29 at a Santa Monica law office. Both stenography and videotape will record the questioning session for possible use in the trial. The deposition may extend to more than one day if necessary before it's concluded.
Recently, the "Mean Girls" actress went to the hospital and missed work on her latest film "Georgia Rule," pleading "heat exhaustion" and "dehydration" during Los Angeles' uncharacteristic heat wave.
Morgan Creek's CEO James G. Robinson wrote her a letter chiding her for her unprofessional work ethic and stated that he was her "ongoing all night heavy partying" was the real culprit behind the "exhaustion" and that he didn't want to hear any more "bogus excuses" for her missing work. The exec then threatened to pursue "full monetary damages" if she continued to cost the production because of lost filming days or changed schedules.
Lohan stars as a troubled and rebellious teenager in "Georgia Rule," which also stars Jane Fonda, Felicity Huffman and Cary Elwes.
