MacLaine and Dukakis star

Hot young things Lindsay Lohan, Rosario Dawson and Channing Tatum are joining Oscar-winning old things Shirley MacLaine and Olympia Dukakis in the comedy "Poor Things."

Production begins later this week on the independently financed film, which is based on recent news coverage of various "grandma gangs," according to Variety. A number of elderly women have been convicted for scams and cons including drugs and insurance fraud.

Ash Baron Cohen is directing from Trent Haaga's script. Rob Hickman's Still Rolling Prods. will produce, with MacLaine also set to produce.

Lohan was most recently seen on police blotters and in the dramedy "George Rule." She has "I Know Who Killed Me" on tap for later this summer.

Recent credits for Dawson include "Grindhouse" and "Clerks 2."

Tatum, best known for his starring turn in "Step Up," has "Stop Loss" and "The Battle in Seattle" ready for later this year. He's also attached to the Nicolas Sparks adaptation "Dear John" and the action drama "Parkour."
