Jayma Mays has landed the female lead in the upcoming Sony comedy formerly known as "Mall Cop."

Filming begins later this month in Boston on what is now simply called the untitled Kevin James comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

James plays a mall security guard who has to raise his game when his mall is taken hostage by a group of thieves. The trade says that Mays will play the owner of a hair extensions kiosk at the mall.

Also tapped for the Steve Carr-directed comedy are Keir O'Donnell, Shirley Knight, Raini Rodriguez, Stephen Rannazzisi and Adam Ferrara.

The project is based on a script originally written by James and Nick Bakay and buffed and polished by Steve Pink.

James is also producing along with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Prods.

Mays is most familiar for playing women named Charlie in arcs on "Heroes" and "Ugly Betty." She's also appeared on episodes of "Pushing Daisies" and "Ghost Whisperer" in the past year. On the big screen, Mays was one of the leads in "Epic Movie."
