Dominic Monaghan and Daniel Henney join Hugh Jackman in franchise pic

Dominic Monaghan isn't taking his departure from "Lost" too hard, booking a role in 20th Century Fox's high profile "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

This is the second high profile booking in recent weeks for Monaghan, who played the now-absent (but, like all characters, not necessarily gone-for-good) Charlie on "Lost."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monaghan will play Barnell, described as a friend of Logan/Wolverine's (Hugh Jackman) from his military days. Oh and he has has the power to harness energy and electricity.

Also new to the cast of the Gavin Hood-directed franchise pic is Daniel Henney as the mutant marksman Agent Zero.

Other previously announced supporting players include Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston and Taylor Kitsch.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" has already begun shooting in New Zealand, with additional production in Australia and New Orleans scheduled before a May 1, 2009 worldwide release.

Monaghan just signed on to play the lead in the psychological thriller "Pet" from MGM. Merry in the "Lord of the Rings" films, he'll next be seen in the zombie film "I Sell the Dead," opposite Ron Perlman.
