Despite rumors that Nick Cannon had eloped in Vegas earlier in the year, the actor left no doubt in the public's mind that he is now currently engaged.

The "Drumline" star's proposal to Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks was displayed on the jumbotron in Times Square on Monday night (May 7), reports People.

"They got engaged last night," says Ebanks's agent, Chris Gay of Women Model Management. "He took her to Times Square last night and did it in the center of Times Square. Then they had a party after the Met Gala to celebrate. The two of them flew to L.A. late last night because both are working."

The couple had attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Gala before taking a Rolls Royce to Times Square where Cannon dropped to one knee. The MTV jumbotron displayed the words, "Selita will you marry me?"

Ebanks is now sporting a 12-carat diamond ring.

In February, Cannon claimed that after meeting Ebanks, he was no longer a player. Later that month, the couple spent a romantic NBA All-Star weekend in Vegas, which led to rumors that they had secretly tied the knot.

The couple left the party at 3 a.m. and caught a private plane back to L.A., where Cannon is working on his new film, American Son, the rep said.

Cannon, 26, last appeared in Emilio Estevez's ensemble film "Bobby." His other film credits include "Drumline," "Roll Bounce" and "Underclassman." He is currently filming "American Son" in Los Angeles.

The actor got his start on Nickelodeon's "All That" and then his own self-titled show. He's also the host of MTV's improv comedy show "Wild 'N Out."
