'Dance' Star Brings Payne to 'Fame'
Kherington Payne among nine cast additions to 'Fame'
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Payne is one of nine actors who have signed on for MGM's remake of the 1980 musical classic "Fame."
Written by Aline Brosh McKenna and Allison Burnett, "Fame" will cover ground similar to the Alan Parker directed original. Expect dancing, singing and tears as a year plays out at New York's High School for the Performing Arts.
Joining Payne in the cast are Kristy Flores, Paul Iacono, Paul McGill, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker, Collins Pennie, Walter Perez and Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.
"Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" star Thomas Dekker is also in negotiations for another lead, singer Marco.
The adult roles are still being cast. Original star Debbie Allen may have a cameo.
MGM hopes to have "Fame" in production by late November for a Sept. 25, 2009 release date.
Payne, one half of the popular Twitchington partnership on the summer's "So You Think You Can Dance," will play Alice, a ballerina.
