In its new release date, "Prince of Persia" will draft of "Shrek Goes Fourth," opening the prior weekend.

Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard and Boaz Yakin wrote the script, along with Jordan Melcher, who created the Ubisoft fantasy-adventure game, which first premiered in 1989 and has spawned myriad sequels and spinoffs.

Jake Gyllenhaal will play Dastan, a sixth-century Persian prince who aims to keep the mystical Sands of Time out of the hands of an evil nobleman. Gemma Arterton is set as the Prince's lady-love, with Alfred Molina and Ben Kingsley in key supporting roles.
