Susan Sarandon Digs 'Lovely Bones'
Stanley Tucci is also close to joining Peter Jackson's cast
Oscar winner Susan Sarandon is the latest actor to join the cast of Peter Jackson's adaptation of "The Lovely Bones."Based on the bestselling novel by Alice Sebold, the DreamWorks production tells the story of a deceased young woman (Saoirse Ronan) who watches her loved ones and her killer from heaven.
Rachel Weisz and Ryan Gosling were previously cast as the girl's parents, with Variety reporting that Sarandon will play her grandmother. The trade paper also says that Stanley Tucci is circling the role of the girl's killer, though it's unclear if that required a spoiler warning.
Jackson will begin shooting "The Lovely Bones" in October.
Sarandon has a slew of films due for release this fall including the long-delayed "Mr. Woodcock," "In the Valley of Elah" and "Enchanted." She'll also appear next year in the Wachowski Brothers' "Speed Racer."
