Dennis Quaid joins indie cast

Film producer Michael London has a few "Smart People" in mind for his next film.

"Sideways" actor Thomas Haden Church, Rachel Weisz and Dennis Quaid are set to star in the indie comedy-drama helmed by first-time feature director Noam Murro, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Church will portray an adopted man who makes an unexpected visit to his brother (Quaid), a recently widowed professor whose career is failing while his love life is looking up. Weisz will play Quaid's new girlfriend.

Robert Redford and "13 Going on 30" director Gary Winick were previously attached to the film, which has been making the rounds for a while.

Production is set to begin Nov. 6 in Pittsburgh.

The Oscar-nominated Church, who was last heard as an animal control agent in "Over the Hedge," will next lend his voice to the crow Brooks for the live-action adaptation of "Charlotte's Web" hitting theaters Dec. 20 and then go on a rampage as the villainous Sandman in 2007's "Spider-Man 3."

Weisz stars opposite Hugh Jackman in the November release of "The Fountain," which was screened at the Venice Film Festival, while Quaid recently wrapped shooting "Vantage Point."
