Warner Bros. has snagged the remake rights to the French smash "Welcome to the Sticks" for Will Smith's production company.

Directed by Dany Boon and starring Kad Merad, "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" has taken in more than $180 million in France. It's already the nation's highest grossing domestic cinematic product and it's on the verge of passing "Titanic" as the top grossing film ever in France.

The project focuses on a postal worker who gets assigned, against his wishes, to the north of France, where he learns to love the wacky locals and their difficult-to-understand accents.

It's unclear if "Welcome to the Sticks" would be developed as a potential star vehicle for Smith, but his Overbrook Entertainment shingle will produce, the industry trade papers say.

Overbrook's production credits have included "I Am Legend" and the upcoming "Hancock," starring Smith, and 2008 releases " Lakeview Terrace" and "The Secret Life of Bees" without the star's on-camera presence.
