Fans may get to see first showings before midnight

The "Star Trek" premiere is headed to theaters at warp speed.

Instead of the now-traditional midnight showing, the latest installment in the sci-fi series will start at 7 p.m. May 7, according to ComingSoon.net.

There's been no confirmation so far from Paramount.

"Star Trek" stars Chris Pine as young Kirk and Zachary Quinto as young Spock as they fight to save Starfleet against an enemy from the future.
