Original masterminds Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor will also be back

Apparent death will prove no obstacle for Jason Statham's Chev Chelios in "Crank 2: High Voltage."

According to Variety, original "Crank" writer-directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor will return for the sequel along with Statham.

"Crack 2" will be shot back-to-back with Neveldine and Taylor's "Game," a futuristic thriller to star Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall.

While Statham's Chelios may have most recently been seen in the aftermath of a fall that would have killed a lesser mortal, the character will be back to face a Chinese mobster who steals his heart and replaces it with a battery-powered organ that requires regular jolts of electricity to keep thumping.

The 2006 original "Crank" took in just under $27 million domestically, making profit on a budget under $15 million.

The sequel will be produced by Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment.
