Romantic Comedy Woos Meryl Streep
Nancy Meyer will direct the Universal production
According to Variety, the Oscar-winning actress is "in advanced negotiations" to play a woman at the center of a love triangle in a new project written and directed by Nancy Meyers.
Meyers' solid track record with female-skewing rom-coms includes "What Women Want," "Something's Gotta Give" and "The Holiday."
The always-prolific Streep appeared in "Lions for Lambs," "Rendition" and "Evening" last year. In addition to "Mamma Mia!," her 2008 slate includes the Oscar-bait "Doubt." She's completed work on "Julia & Julia," a 2009 release co-starring Amy Adams.
