'High School Musical' star auditions for 'Twilight' sequel
The "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" star has auditioned for the role of Native American werewolf Leah Clearwater in the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon," sources say. Clearwater's character is important in author Stephanie Meyer's books as her tribe's first and only female werewolf.
No word on how well Hudgens did, though her involvement could help complete the series' dominance over teen fans.
The first film began the love story between teen Bella ( Kristen Stewart) and secret vampire Edward ( Robert Pattinson). "New Moon" splits Bella's affection between Edward and werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Lautner recently confirmed his return as Jacob for "New Moon."
Hudgens, 20, should fit in well with the wolfpack: In Meyer's books, werewolves are naked when reverting to human form. Hudgens turned up in nude photos in 2007.
