Live action Cheetara? We're there...

Children of the '80s are feeling well-represented by the current cinematic landscape.

"Transformers" will open this summer. There have now been multiple "Dukes of Hazzard" projects. The "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" are back. "He-Man" may bring the power of Grayskull back to the big screen. And now, Warner Bros. is hoping to chronicle the adventures of "ThunderCats."

According to Variety, Warner-based Spring Creek Prods. has snagged a script by Paul Sopocy to bring the '80s animated series and toy line to theaters in big screen form.

Premiering in 1983, "ThunderCats" took place in the confusingly timed Third Earth. The anthropomorphic ThunderCats arrived on Third Earth via the planet of Thundera, but they had to face the evil wizard Mumm-Ra and his various minions. There were Lion-O, Jaga, Tygra, WilyKit and WilyKat and, confusing the sexual identity of many a small child, the speedy Cheetara.

The ThunderCats premiered in several animated permutations and a variety of comic lines. The series most recently aired on Cartoon Network.

Warner Bros. is also home to the Joel Silver produced incarnation of "He-Man," as well as a recently proposed live-action take on DC Comics' Teen Titans line.
