Tim Burton Finds His Alice for 'Wonderland'
Mia Wasikowska will play the lead in the new Disney 'Alice in Wonderland'
According to Variety, Mia Wasikowska is in final negotiations to play Alice, a young woman who goes down a rabbit's hole and finds all sorts of adventures and wacky creatures.
Set up at Disney, Burton's take on the Lewis Carroll classic will be scripted by Linda Woolverton and shot in a mixture of live action and performance-capture animated footage. The final result will then be screened in Disney Digital 3-D.
Production will begin in November.
A regular on HBO's "In Treatment," Wasikowska has completed work in a pair of high profile films. The Australian teen will appear in Ed Zwick's World War II drama "Defiance" and as the young Amelia Earhart in Mira Nair's "Amelia."
