Hugo Weaving joins Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt in remake

Hugo Weaving will play a key supporting role in Universal's upcoming remake of "The Wolfman."

According to Variety, Weaving will play Det. Aberline, who we're guessing has some concerns about the lycanthropic tumult that begins with Benicio Del Toro's main character returns to his family's ancestral home and begins wolfing out.

Anthony Hopkins is already set as the father of Del Toro's character, with Emily Blunt as the female lead.

After a director swap that brought in Joe Johnston ("Jurassic Park 3") at the helm, "The Wolfman" will begin production next month in London.

Universal has set the movie for a Feb. 13 release date. But not this year. That would be impossible. Probably 2009.

Weaving is best known as either Agent Smith from the "Matrix" films or Elrond from the "Lord of the Rings" movies. He most most recently heard doing voice work in "Transformers" and "Happy Feet."
