'Bruno' cuts Michael Jackson scene from premiere
The producers of "Bruno" cut a scene involving Michael Jackson from the movie's premiere Thursday, but they're still weighing whether to restore it for the movie's release in two weeks.
Universal cut a scene in which Austrian fashion journalist Bruno -- one of the alter egos of Sacha Baron Cohen -- interviews La Toya Jackson about her famous family, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Business blog. The bit includes Bruno asking the unsuspecting Jackson question about her brother's voice and his trademark single glove.
Because the premiere was taking place only hours after Michael Jackson's death, removing the scene for the screening seems like a no-brainer. There hasn't been a decision, however, about keeping the scene out or restoring it for "Bruno's" July 9 release.
"We decided to take it out for tonight and we'll reassess before the release whether to keep it out," director Larry Charles told the HR.
The scene with La Toya Jackson was included in critics' screenings that took place before Thursday's premiere.
