Evan Rachel Wood to be 'Spider-Man's' Mary Jane
Mary Jane Watson will be singing a new tune soon.
Evan Rachel Wood has been cast as Peter Parker's redheaded girlfriend in the Broadway musical production of "Spider-Man Turn off the Dark," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
So that means Kirsten Dunst's role for the big-screen "Spider-Man 4" will continue as scheduled.
Besides occasionally going red, Wood actually has other talents to recommend her for the part. She's already proven her acting chops and is also a singer, whose voice was featured in "Across the Universe."
Joining Wood is Scottish actor Alan Cumming as the Green Goblin. He's had experience with playing a Marvel Comics character before, as Nightcrawler in the "X-Men" films.
So far, however, there's no word on who will play the friendly neighborhood webslinging vigilante.
The Julie Taymor-directed musical begins preview performances Feb. 25 next year at the Hilton Theatre.
