'Footloose' adds 'Dancing with the Stars' pro Julianne Hough
Less than a month after trying out for the part, Julianne Hough of "Dancing with the Stars" has danced away with the female lead for the "Footloose" remake.
Hough will join "Gossip Girl" star Chace Crawford in the film, Variety announced today.
The 1984 original followed city-boy Ren ( Kevin Bacon), who is transplanted to a town where dancing is forbidden. Sure enough, Ren wins the heart of preacher's daughter Ariel (Lori Singer), and the town learns to move its collective feet. Crawford and Hough will take the Ren and Ariel roles.
This would be Hough's first large role outside reality television. She beat out other, more experienced actresses like "Heroes" star Hayden Panettiere.
