The expansion of the Oscars' best picture pool came a year too late for " The Dark Knight," but the film was the big winner at the Saturn Awards Wednesday night.

The movie won five awards from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, including best action-adventure/thriller film, best supporting actor ( Heath Ledger) and best writer (Christopher and Jonathan Nolan). The movie's special effects and music also won awards.

The other big winners in the movie categories were "Iron Man" and " The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," which snagged three awards each. "Battlestar Galactica" took home three honors in the TV categories.

A full list of winners is at the awards' official site.

You'll soon have a chance to see an extended version of "Watchmen" in theaters -- provided you live in one of four cities and are free the week of July 17.

The director's cut of Zack Snyder's film of the landmark graphic novel will play for one week only in New York, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Dallas. It features about 25 minutes of additional footage and the death of one character, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The screenings will lead up to the July 21 release of the longer version of "Watchmen" on DVD and Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray version will also give fans a chance to take part in a live screening and Q-and-A with Snyder from Comic-Con on July 25.

Scout Taylor-Compton will take her place alongside " Twilight: New Moon" stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in the biopic "The Runaways," Variety reports.

Taylor-Compton (" Halloween") will play Lita Ford in the movie about the 1970s all-girl band that also included Joan Jett (Stewart) and Cherie Currie (Fanning).
